Narrator Grover Gardner portrays Patterson, New Jersey, defense attorney Andy Carpenter. Gardner’s delivery is perfect for Rosenfelt’s sardonic sense of humor and generally goofiness. The latest in the author’s series features Milo, a clever German shepherd, once a police dog, who is now working with Iraq War veteran Billy Zimmerman as a thief. Andy’s initial “interview” with Milo is priceless. In addition, Gardner delivers the character signatures with aplomb: Andy’s wisecracking, his new associate’s gloomy-Gus routine, and his girlfriend’s enthusiasm for investigating and problem-solving.
