THREE RIVERS RISING A Novel of the Johnstown Flood

Forbidden love! A great flood! This young adult novel written in verse tells the story of three nineteenth-century young women who are beset by individual travails and the transformative disaster of the great Johnstown Flood. Each narrator reads sections of the book that are associated with a particular character, but the decision to write the story in verse limits character development. And while the ensemble cast is consistently good, they provide so little emphasis to the structure of the verse that one can’t even tell that this is poetry.
