BEST LAID PLANS

In this over-the-top story, Tru and her friends start an escort service when the failing economy leaves them unable to pay for their BOTOX injections and designer shoes. Their specialty: high-class courtesans over 40. Narrator Coleen Marlo does everything possible for the shallow, pop-culture-infused plot. She narrates with expressive enthusiasm and wisely doesn’t try to do celebrity impersonations during conversations with Rosie O’Donnell, Suze Orman, and Cher. She serviceably sings several rock songs. One pleasant surprise is the charming Japanese accent of the esthetician who gives Tru a facial with nightingale droppings.
