One of the most influential memoirs of the years between the Wars, first published in 1948, is full of passion and detail. A vengeful peace produces Hitler, and appeasement produces catastrophe. No one listens to Churchill until it is far too late. Christian Rodska offers his mild but convincing imitation of Churchill’s voice, which Rodska has now used in readings of at least half-a-dozen of Churchill’s works. One swiftly becomes used to it. Rodska’s narration is clear and measured—his speech is far easier to understand than the real Churchill's. This is an engaging performance of an important work.
