SPACE

by | Read by Larry McKeever

Literary Fiction • 40 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1982

One of James Michener's better novels Space portrays the American space program from its inception during WWII to its collapse in the early 1980's. The novel follows the politicos, astronauts, engineers and scientists through the characters of four fictitious couples. With such a long performance the choice to narrate without characterizations is a good one as listening to such a complicated story for thirty hours is difficult with too many voices to follow. Larry McKeever is an excellent narrator and does a good job. The novel is episodic, like most of Michener's works, and McKeever helps the listener keep track of the threads. It's an excellent production. E.F. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: SEPT 94]
