THE WITNESS AT THE WEDDING

In this sixth in the Fethering series, Carole Seddon and her sidekick, neighbor Jude, investigate a thirty-year-old murder that is tied to her son’s upcoming marriage to Gaby Martin. Author and narrator Simon Brett has a knack for bringing out his characters, including their flaws. In Brett’s narration Carole comes through as inquisitive as she is critical. Brett also captures the soft-spoken bumbling of Carole’s ex-husband, the bubbly chatter of Gaby, and the deep, raspy tones of Gaby’s elderly French grand-mère. When Gaby and Jude visit Gaby’s grandmother in France, Brett does justice to the French dialogue. Brett’s mystery will draw listeners in, and his engaging narration will keep them listening.
