This final volume of Robert Coles acclaimed series on "the inner lives of children" is given a thoughtful, straightforward reading by Nelson Runger. These interviews with Christian, Jewish, and Islamic children between the ages of eight and twelve present their perceptions of God, as well as Coles's commentary on the understanding and feelings their conversations reveal. Runger's smooth voice is well-suited for conveying the friendly tone set by Coles. His delivery is flawless. He uses pauses and inflection to communicate the reflections of the children as they talk openly with Coles.
