STEEL GUITAR

by | Read by C.J. Critt

Mystery & Suspense • 7.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1991

Boston-smart, ex-cop, private detective Carlotta Carlyle is up to her elbows tracking a missing person, protecting a famous rock star and investigating suspicious deaths in this latest Linda Barnes mystery. Narrator C.J. Critt does a fine job interpreting this "night life" cast of characters. Carlotta's lines are delivered with a tough edge--contrasting nicely to singer Dee Willis's seductive, silky (and yes) Southern tones. Male characters' voices are flatter, less interesting, but still credible. Overall, this is a fine rendering of a taut, R-rated detective novel. J.B. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN 93]
