COME TO THE EDGE A Memoir

This insightful but chronologically confusing memoir recounts the author’s five-year romance with John F. Kennedy, Jr., which ended nine years before his death. Two very privileged young people share an intense, loving friendship against a backdrop of privileged settings. Lyrical story is like a novel in its vignettes and flashbacks. Haag, now an actress, employs pleasing enunciation and pacing, but her repetitive cadence becomes monotonous. Much of the narrative is overly detailed, particularly her accounts of her early Catholic school education. At the same time, her sweet remembrances imbue JFK, Jr., with dignity and humanity, and his mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, is depicted with grace and style.
