IDENTITY CRISIS

by | Read by Melba Sibrel

Mystery & Suspense • 6.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2009

Melba Sibrel's slightly whiny voice and off-kilter cadence reflect the personality of Stephanie "Sam" McRae, a flaky but determined lawyer who finds herself defending a former client who is accused of identify theft and murder. Using slight tonal differences, Sibrel hits the mark with the supporting characters—from Mafia wise-guy bruisers to wacky suspects. Her voice becomes whispery when she delivers narrative, a style that creates welcome contrast. And she’s especially creative with the female characters. Although the characterizations are slight, the story is so entertaining and Sibrel's voice so engaging that the overall listening experience is fun.
