Nickson has achieved a well-researched, carefully written history of the popular actor, director and political activist. Only a true Reeve aficionado, however, will appreciate this audio presentation. Lloyd James strives for an academic approach to his reading, but the result is somewhat stilted. Awkward pacing at unexpected moments and obvious "reading" get in the way of the listener's appreciation of the text. Even his direct quotes of Reeve recounting his courtship sound flat. One can admire Christopher Reeve, his professional achievements and his determination to overcome adversity. It's much more difficult to admire this accounting of his life.
