THUNDER DOG The True Story of a Blind Man, His Guide Dog, and the Triumph of Trust at Ground Zero

by | Read by Christopher Prince

Contemporary Culture • 6.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2011

The initial story of Michael and his guide dog, Roselle, is an emotional and touching one. However, it wasn’t until September 11, 2001, that the true nature of their remarkable relationship became evident when Roselle guided him out of a burning Tower One. Narrator Christopher Prince offers a well-devised reading, gently nuanced with an underplayed emotional tone that ensures listeners can empathize with Michael and not pity him. As solid as the reading is, the musical cues throughout only hamper the dramatic effect rather than enhance it. The overall reading is compelling, and the story an incredible one: a compulsive listening experience. L.B. © AudioFile 2011, Portland, Maine [Published: DECEMBER 2011]
