SHUT YOUR EYES TIGHT Dave Gurney, Book 2

Scott Brick has his tough-guy delivery down so well it's probably patented. It perfectly suits the tone of John Verdon's new book, so no complaints. Verdon can be wordy at times and his plot a bit unwieldy, but Brick helps listeners through the rough parts. The reluctant hero is former NYPD detective Dave Gurney, who has been lured out of his dull retirement at a country estate in the Catskills to investigate the brutal beheading of a young woman on her wedding day. Nothing in this story is as it seems, and Gurney just gets in deeper the more he struggles to wrest the truth from reluctant witnesses and family members with more skeletons in their closets than the Addams family.
