This is a brief, trifling collection of comical essays on the silly things in the special life and world that uniquely belong to the former sitcom star and current successful talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. While some of her reflections are hilarious, most are banal. But her narration is sparkling, personal, and highly entertaining, as one might expect—and her reflections exercise whimsy and wit. It’s manna from heaven for DeGeneres enthusiasts. The narration has brief musical accompaniment and thematic sound effects in a handful of chapters. A highlight: DeGeneres steps through the audiobook “third wall” by addressing listeners directly in an additional chapter, midway through, exclusively for listeners. An enjoyable, if not enlightening, time is in store. W.A.G. 2012 Audies Finalist © AudioFile 2011, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2011]
