ME . . . JANE

This 2012 Caldecott Honor winner introduces children to Jane Goodall and her work. Accompanied by her stuffed chimpanzee, Jubilee, young Jane explores the world outside—watching birds and spiders, climbing trees, and observing her grandmother’s chickens. She reads about Tarzan and dreams about a life in Africa. Elizabeth Jasicki is a gentle and precise narrator. Her light British accent brings authenticity to Jane’s character, and her slow pacing lets listeners absorb both the text and the pictures. The production includes bibliographic information about Jane Goodall and a message from her that encourages young people to get involved in making “the world a better place for people, animals, and the environment” through her Roots and Shoots organization.
