Billed as the first authoritative, and authorized, biography of one of the twentieth century’s great writers, this book provides a fascinating glimpse into Vonnegut’s life and letters. His wit and talent were visible early in his life, but he also had to struggle against personal setbacks and demons in order to succeed. In a low voice, narrator Fred Berman reads the book with an urgency and insistence that keep it moving. He provides the details well, but more emotional attachment to his subject would enhance the narration and make Vonnegut more accessible to the listener.
