British actor Alan Cummings successfully captures the danger and adventures of the high seas and the mysterious, dark world of young Jim Hawkins, who finds Captain Flint's treasure map, as well as the one-legged sailor, Long John Silver, and his mutinous followers. Those who know TREASURE ISLAND probably won't be satisfied with this abridged offering (which pares the lengthy novel down to a bare-bones plot summary), but Cumming's skillful narration may lead listeners unfamiliar with the classic adventure tale to read the novel--or to seek out an unabridged audio recording.
