A FALL OF MOONDUST

by | Read by Oliver Wyman

Science Fiction • 8 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1961

The moon craft “dustcruiser” SELENE, making its regular sightseeing trip across a lunar sea, suddenly plunges into this ocean of moon dust, trapping its crew and 23 tourist passengers. Oliver Wyman’s plainspoken, focused narration captures the array of emotions of the trapped passengers and the tense, concentrated energies of the rescue team. Clarke’s story is quaint by today’s sci-fi standards, but the race-against-time element makes it compelling. Wyman keeps apace with the rapid-fire ingenuity of the scientists and engineers who are attempting the rescue under conditions never before encountered on earth. Wyman’s narration keeps the listener guessing as to the survival of the passengers, which is tenuous to the end. F.T. © AudioFile 2012, Portland, Maine [Published: AUGUST 2012]
