THE GLOBAL ACHIEVEMENT GAP Why Even Our Best Schools Don't Teach the New Survival Skills Our Children Need—And What We Can Do About it

by | Read by Paul Costanzo

Contemporary Culture • 10.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2010

Here is yet another book that details what our schools need to do to narrow the gap in academic achievement between American and foreign students. It offers details about what skills we should be teaching and the potholes that have formed on the road to success. Narrator Paul Costanzo has a deep, authoritative voice that guides us through this book while keeping it fresh and engaging. He knows how to accentuate passages to maximize our understanding of this informative work and where to pause to let us process the information. However, Costanzo’s pacing of sentences is distracting. He delivers each one with stops and starts that give his reading an uneven sound. It’s not a fatal flaw, but it does take away from his otherwise successful narration. R.I.G. © AudioFile 2012, Portland, Maine [Published: MARCH 2012]
