THE PROGRESS PRINCIPLE Using Small Wins to Ignite Joy, Engagement, and Creativity at Work

by | Read by Sharon Williams

Business & Finance • 7 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2012

Teresa Amabile and Steven Kramer outline their research on people’s inner lives at work. Sharon Williams narrates at a measured pace as she details the authors’ experiences with the motivations behind positive work experiences, particularly the feeling of progress being made. However, Williams doesn’t always sound comfortable with the subject matter and writing style, and she tends to overenunciate many words—as if she’s trying not to trip over sentences. The authors draw on the work journals of project teams they tracked in the course of their research. Williams differentiates excerpts from these journals from the rest of the text through changes in tone and pitch, but the overall effect is less than impressive.
