VOICES OF THE CIVIL WAR: ATLANTA

by | Read by Performed by a Full Cast

History • 90 min. • Audio Program • ©

This educational rendition of some of the key events and personalities of the Civil War is adequately performed. The difficult capture of Atlanta under strenuous battle conditions comes across well in audio format. "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" is appropriately used at transitions. The multi-voiced recording has its pros and cons. It positively portrays the different types of people affected by the war: nurses, infantry men, relatives, etc. Unfortunately, some of the Southern accents do not ring quite true. The unauthentic sound decreases the credibility of the recording. A.G.H. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/JUL 99]
