A WALK THROUGH THE FIRE

by | Read by Joyce Bean

Mystery & Suspense • 7 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1999

Hawaii can be beautiful if no one is trying to murder you. Sharon McCone and Hy Rapinski are at it again as they investigate sabotage and attempted murder on the Islands and stumble into politics, drug smuggling and family skeletons. Reader Joyce Bean never really gets into the character of McCone or her narration. She does capture the pacing of Hawaiian speech, a break from an overall unemotional performance. While Muller keeps the story and tension going, Bean dampens it with an uninteresting rendition that plods through breathtaking scenery and heartrending flirtation between McCone and Hawaii native Russ Tanner--testing the patience of audiobook fans to the very end.
