Vivid stories of people called to leadership are at the center of this audio from a Harvard Medical School professor and medical author. His descriptions of leadership practices such as empathy, resilience, and decisiveness sound accessible because the writing is that of a kind and experienced teacher. Alan Sklar, with his warm voice and flawless diction, helps make these ideas sound both important and worth savoring. His voice has the quality of a seasoned, well-liked actor or singer. But in many parts of this performance, slow pacing makes some of the long, complex sentences difficult to digest. Pauses after some phrases are so long or ill placed that some listeners may think a sentence has concluded when, in fact, there is more, sometimes much more, to come.
