More than a baseball book, this is the story of two men of different generations, brought together by baseball, who become dear friends after retiring from the game. Yogi Berra was one of the greatest Yankees of all time. Ron Guidry was a talented pitcher. The book explores their friendship and the post-baseball career of “Mr. Yogi.” Peter Berkrot offers a conversational reading with just the right touch of a baseball fan’s enthusiasm. He adopts a gruff-sounding voice for direct quotes from Berra, which sets them off nicely. He does less well with Guidry’s Louisiana accent.
