Nimra Bucha’s narration keeps pace with this unusual story of a Christian nurse in an Islamic hospital. Bucha's precision includes careful enunciation and steady emphasis. Her ironic tone fits the novel, which swings from sardonic humor to hints of what’s to come. Bucha’s generic South Asian accent doesn’t distract from the dialogue or description. While her unvaried pace can be dull on the ear if listened to for long stretches, she moves from male to female characters capably and captures both the comic overtones and serious undertones of the novel.
