THE LINE BETWEEN HERE AND GONE

The second in Kane’s new series is not nail-biting suspense, but narrator James Colby keeps the story moving. His delivery sorts out the mobsters, thugs, and duplicitous politicians from the large team of Forensic Instincts investigators, who include analysts and “muscle,” a techie and a psychic. Their mission is to save a newborn’s life by proving that the father was not murdered but is in hiding and bringing him home to provide a life-saving blood donation that will bolster the baby’s immune system. Colby plays the team’s banter, dalliances, interrogations, and slightly criminal investigations with an even keel.
