SUMMER AT FORSAKEN LAKE

Earphones Award Winner

by | Read by Thomas Vincent Kelly

Children Ages 10+ • 8 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2012

This charming, upbeat story is the ideal summer listen for those of all ages. When Nicholas and his 10-year-old twin sisters go to spend the summer with their Great-Uncle Nick, they can't imagine life outside Manhattan. Narrator Thomas Vincent Kelly brings warmth and vitality to every character. His enthusiasm is particularly apparent in Nicholas, Charlie (a girl), and Uncle Nick, who knows just how to handle kids. Nicholas discovers an unfinished film his dad made when he was a boy and decides to finish it. Kelly commendably distinguishes the twins, who are hilarious as they sport English accents for the movie. By the film's opening everyone—adults included—grows up a little in this sweetly nostalgic story. S.G.B. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2012, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 2012]
