Resourceful Samantha goes to live with reclusive Aunt Daisy in a crumbling mansion. This satisfying variation on a familiar theme is enhanced by an almost indescribable animal called a bogwoppit. Angela Thorne reads with appropriate, playful gravity, letting the humor of the story emerge unforced. She gives every character a well-defined voice. Her British diction and occasional British usage are unlikely to put off or confuse American youngsters. Happily, this audiobook has no obvious instructional value, so youngsters can just enjoy it.
