Listeners may experience a few strange moments with this audiobook—for example, when the authors differentiate between reading and listening (a fuzzy distinction in the case of audiobooks) and when the preface promises that this newly released audiobook will address recent changes in reading and publishing (except that it was written over 30 years ago). Despite these oddities, the book remains a classic of academic analysis, a brilliant explanation of how to get the most out of a great book, and narrator Edward Holland, with his silver-tongued voice, is the ideal choice for reading this material. Despite the complexity of some of the concepts, Holland—with his careful modulation and expert inflection—smoothly pilots listeners through the hours.
