HER FATHER'S DAUGHTER

by | Read by Dana Miltins

Fiction • 6.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2012

A female voice with a strong Australian accent is an excellent choice for this memoir of a first-generation child of Cambodian immigrants living down under. Dana Miltins captures the disorientation of the author as she travels from the country she knows as home, Australia, back to her parents' homeland. Miltins conveys the third-person narration with feeling and inflection, bringing to life the author's personal thoughts as well as dialogue with both men and women. Miltins is a capable storyteller, setting a comfortable pace that is easy on the ear and has a meandering quality that mimics the text. Her tone is subdued, introspective, at times meditative—all of which reflect the personal nature of the author’s journey. M.R. © AudioFile 2012, Portland, Maine [Published: NOVEMBER 2012]
