Bush and his National Security Advisor, Scowcroft, present a personal look at some of the world-changing events that occurred during the Bush presidency. The authors discuss their roles in the diplomacy and decisions of the Gulf War and the collapse of the Soviet Empire. With clarity and that well-known cadence, Bush reads with a grandfatherly sounding voice and pleasantly tells of personal relationships and difficult decisions. Scowcroft's unfamiliar voice is rougher than Bush's, but he provides an adequate reading.
