Renée Raudman’s pacing is perfectly suited to the character of Hannah Smith, a tall, gutsy Florida fishing guide and part-time investigator. Hannah’s friends, neighbors, and clients also know her as an uncommonly resourceful woman with a keen sense of justice. Raudman’s understated reading style, with its low, no-nonsense tone, reinforces listeners’ mental image of Hannah. Hannah’s methods can be unorthodox and violent, as in her search for the missing, incredibly wealthy Olivia Seasons, part of which takes place in Florida’s Ten Thousand Islands. Raudman’s voice is easy on the ears and draws listeners into this slightly slow-paced mystery with its island characters and funny dialogue.
