Delivering her own work, young author Alexandra Adornetto has an obvious familiarity with the text and characters that serves her narration well. Adornetto's youthful tone brings a realistic naivete to the character of Bethany Church, an angel who has defied heaven by falling in love with a human. In this final book of the trilogy, Bethany and her husband, Xavier, are forced to hide from a band of rogue angels while attending college. Adornetto's delivery keeps time with the action; her pace quickens as the plot reaches its climax, and appropriately placed pauses add dramatic tension.
