ZENNOR IN DARKNESS is the first novel by Helen Dunmore. This melancholy tale is set in the Cornish country of England during the bleakest days of WWI. Detailing the survival of those remaining at home during the war, the story follows the life of young artist Clare Coyne and her associates as they try to cope with the difficulties of country life during the European conflict, including local gossip, desertion, desolation, and friendships.
