Perhaps it’s simply the state of advertising and its professionals today, but the title, content, and narration of this audiobook are identically repulsive. There are many behind-the-scenes stories of the education, recruitment, and daily work of many of today’s top creators of television and other media advertisements—but if you don’t remember the ads, you most likely won’t understand the book’s commentary. Further, immature attempts at humor are merely examples of bad taste. Growick is the managing director of a well-respected executive search firm that hires for this frenetic industry. Nicole Vilencia and Mike Chamberlain share the narration; their enthusiasm is spoiled by a too rapid pace. Ultimately, the narration sounds as immature as the content. Little, if any, actual insight into the advertising industry in this decade is provided. W.A.G. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine [Published: FEBRUARY 2013]
