BRYANT AND MAY AND THE INVISIBLE CODE

The range of Tim Goodman's performance is once again striking in Fowler's latest Bryant and May caper. The voice of Peculiar Crimes Unit expert Arthur Bryant is so convincingly elderly that it underscores Goodman's extraordinary acting talents when he shifts to the voices of children, heavily accented Albanian and Jamaican women, and the laconic drawl of his partner, John May. Deaths in London appear to have supernatural roots, but as the Unit investigates, they realize that everyone involved is in grave danger. The performance, with humorous undertones, is greatly entertaining. Fowler smoothly manipulates diverse threads involving science, government corruption, witchcraft, whistleblowers, Russian gangsters, and a myriad of codes and cyphers to weave another ingenious plot.
