FRAGILE PARADISE

by | Read by Glynn Christian

History • 12.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1999

The mutiny on H.M.S. BOUNTY, which took place in the South Pacific in April 1789, certainly does not lack for attention. From the very beginning, this event has spawned immense interest. Glynn Christian, who is the great-great-great-great-grandson of the instigator of the revolt, Fletcher Christian, here tells the story. He goes into detail about his family history, the life of Captain William Bligh, eighteenth-century manners, as well as giving a wonderfully complete account of the revolt and the events that followed. All of this is fascinating and almost overwhelming. In reading his own work, Christian brings zeal and energy. Although there are a few points when the narration lags, this performance should satisfy and inform those who want the true story of the BOUNTY.
