When Londoner Eloise Hamilton moves with her family to Dartmouth, she has no idea of the twists and turns her life will take. While Charlotte Strevens's voice for Emily sounds somewhat childlike and innocent at times, it fits the character of the chronic people-pleaser and family linchpin. Eloise; her mother-in-law, Margaret; and her best friend, Sara, make up the nucleus of the story, and as each reaches a different stage in her life, Strevens's voice holds something unique. She does a particularly good job at portraying Margaret, who has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Strevens gives her all the frustration she feels and perfectly captures her dreamy tones as she retreats increasingly into the past. E.N. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine [Published: FEBRUARY 2013]
