This spoof on all things Dracula is super for kids and probably even funnier for many adults. Professor Strudel is a brainy, absent-minded guinea pig, and Hamish, a hamster, is his assistant who always comes through for him. Things really go crazy when they visit Count Ratula (a rat, of course) in his castle. Narrator Toksvig is fantastic as she presents an array of animal characters. Her timing and delivery are splendid as she delivers puns, one-liners, and other gems, such as sirloin steak and hot cross buns being used to ward off the vampire. The heavily accented Professor Strudel lives up to his name and is particularly hilarious, especially when he and Hamish misunderstand each other's words. A delightful adventure for anyone who enjoys a light-hearted take on a serious story. S.G.B. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/MAY 01]
