MAN IN THE BLUE MOON

Ella expects a grandfather clock in the crate from the Blue Moon Clock Co., but instead she finds a man who calls himself "a victim of circumstance." The circumstances promise to get more troubling once it's learned the man has a mysterious past--and the power to heal. Tom Stechschulte narrates with a gentle Southern accent, setting scenes and developing characters with excellence. He captures the rhythm of small-town life--especially the gossip and machinations--with a deft touch. Described as inspirational, the novel's portrait of Appalachicola, Florida, in the early 1900s comes across as quirky rather than saccharine.
