MIDDLIN' SISTERS

When Nashvillian Jill Webb-Hill is not studying theology at Vandebilt or counseling recovering prostitutes and addicts, she dons her Minton Sparks persona and reads her poetry at cafes and clubs around town. This superb CD contains 12 of her pieces performed against a tasteful backdrop of country music riffs--including a brief warble from Waylon Jennings. The poems speak to the bittersweet impressions and experiences of young women of rural Tennessee and Arkansas. They are unsentimental, authentic, accessible, witty, moving, and perfectly expressed by her performance style and the strumming backdrop produced by singer-songwriter Marcus Hummon.
