Mystery & Suspense • 10 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1992

Someone is killing junkies, and when one nearly dies in the alley behind Earthly Delights bakery, Corinna Chapman, baker, is first on the scene. Narrator Louise Siversen's slow, wry delivery is just right for the cynical, cat-loving Corinna. She vows to find out who's behind the deaths as well as who's writing poison pen letters to her neighbors. While carrying out her pledge, she also falls in love, takes in a homeless boy, and morphs into a Goth dominatrix. This is a warm story of likable eccentrics who are pulling together with the help of good bread and a little magic. It's weakened only by Siversen's portrayal of Daniel, hero of the soup run, who is made to sound permanently depressed. Expect lots of cat details and baking--as well as some earthy Australian cursing. C.A.T. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 2013]
