HOUSE OF SHADOWS

This audio charmer, based on an actual house, sports a little of everything: cozy, historical fiction, romance, and ghost story. In Wales, just after WWII, Riana Evans can't believe her luck when elderly, eccentric Beatrice sells her lovely mansion at a very reasonable price. Narrator Anne Dover commendably performs a wide range of personalities, nationalities, and emotions as Riana renovates the house for guests and introduces ghost-hunting weekends. In addition to the intrepid ghost hunters, Dover's best creation is Beatrice, who looks and sounds Victorian and appears and disappears at the perfect moments.
