This complex story combines ancient myth and historical fact with modern events and characters to produce a combination horror story/mystery/folk tale/ghost story. On the day John Lennon is killed, a group of psychic musicians begins recording at a twelfth-century abbey in Wales--with disastrous results. Narrator Seán Barrett impeccably captures the band's wide range of diverse accents and personalities. Lead singer Tom's harsh and menacing voice is especially noteworthy--chilling with his every utterance. Equally compelling is hearing a character's thoughts totally reflected in his or her tone of voice. Things come full circle when the group reunites in 1994 to record again, hoping to bury their demons.
