Robert Frost, among the best-loved of American poets and a four-time Pulitzer Prize winner, left 11 books of poetry. This program of studio and live recordings could be considered something of “Frost’s Greatest Hits,” including such favorites as “The Road Not Taken,” “Birches,” and “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” This most American of poets reads with a deep, musical voice as he captures the many voices of his characters. Although he can, at times, slip into a voice that borders on monotone, he generally reads with feeling. The quality of the second cassette, recorded at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, is raspy and tinny, clearly inferior to the studio program on the first tape.
