GOLDBERG VARIATIONS

Gloria Goldberg Garrison, the biting, savvy, and egocentric owner of a successful woman's makeover business, invites her three estranged grandchildren, Matt, Daisy, and Raquel, to her home in Santa Fe. She intends to offer one of them--only one of them--the "deal of a lifetime." Soon the sparks, quips, insights, and one-liners begin to fly. The four narrators superbly portray the various members of the Goldberg clan, each of whom has a distinct voice and point of view, as well as a suitcase full of emotional baggage. Gloria is especially spot-on, embodying perfectly the disdainful and determined persona of a woman who stole two trucks from her first husband and started a business empire based upon elegance and no excuses.
