A true story is made vivid in fiction. Sunil Malhotra is the perfect voice for this modern-day thriller set in Pakistan. His keen understanding of the rhythms of South Asian accents in English gives his narration authority. Not overdone, his choice of cadence, pitch, and intonation gives life to the twists and turns as a journalist works to find out about the five men who were arrested for conspiracy to assassinate him. The story is heavy on the masculine perspective, which is another advantage that Malhotra has as narrator. His rich baritone keeps the listener engaged though there is a seemingly endless parade of male characters. He distinguishes between the narrative and dialogue through variations in vocal depth and volume. Song lyrics, Urdu, and sarcasm are delivered with the skill of a live theater performance.
