ALL THE DROWNING SEAS

by | Read by Gordon Griffin

Historical Fiction • 11.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1991

The story is a British tale of two theaters in WWII, the "Med" and the Pacific. A father has command of a ship on one side of the world; his son is stationed aboard a ship in the other hemisphere. The audio format may contribute to the listener’s occasional disorientation, as there are frequent switches of setting without any cue or transition. Gordon Griffin has energy in his speech and a contagious excitement in battle. Some misguided portrayals of young sailors make them sound like senior admirals, but otherwise Griffin's delivery is admirable. However, the recording is of low fidelity throughout, making the words difficult to understand without earphones. J.A.H. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/JUL 01]
