First published almost 60 years ago and the basis of THE KING AND I, this classic tale blends fact and fiction as it tells the story of Englishwoman Anna Leonowens, who becomes governess to the children of King Mongkut of Siam in the 1860s. The story is filled with detailed description and is delivered with little vocal variation by narrator Kate Reading. Those who love history and travel will be enchanted by Reading's crisp rendition; those seeking dramatic action and adventure will do better to listen to something else.
