CELTIC TREASURES

[Editor's Note: The following is a combined review with HEROES IN MYTHOLOGY.]--Storytelling is one of the oldest traditions known to man--teaching us about various cultures, religious beliefs, and the joys and sorrows of those who have come before us. A good storyteller brings his stories to life, painting vivid pictures for his audience; Jim Weiss does just that on these programs. His pacing is wonderful, his enunciation is clear and concise, and his tone of voice brings shades of color to the stories. Celtic Treasures has eight short stories, tied together with beautiful selections of Celtic music performed by Paul Machias. Heroes in Mythology introduces three mythological heroes and their stories: the Greek heroes Theseus and Prometheus and the lesser-known Odin, of Norse mythology. Each CD has an informative introduction, which sets the stage for the stories to come, and helps make them excellent choices for family listening or school studies of mythology and/or Celtic folklore.
